The man, who describes himself as a freestyler, filmed himself pouring a flammable substance on the bronze statue near the CR7 Museum in Funchal before igniting it. In the video, which he posted on Instagram, he is seen performing a strange dance to loud rap music as the flames spread. The man, who has about a thousand followers, has been identified by local police, who continue their search for him. It is not yet clear if the statue suffered permanent damage, as it was previously vandalized in 2016.
