Formula 1 to Return to Portugal in 2027 and 2028

Formula 1 has signed a two-year agreement to return to Portugal, with the Grand Prix scheduled for the Portimão circuit in 2027 and 2028. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed his delight.


Formula 1 to Return to Portugal in 2027 and 2028

Formula 1 has announced that the FIA Formula One World Championship will return to Portugal for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. This return to the European country is part of a two-year agreement with the Portuguese government, Turismo de Portugal, and the promoter Parkalgar. The Grand Prix will be held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, better known as Portimão. This circuit last hosted a Grand Prix in 2020 and 2021 as the championship resumed activity following the coronavirus pandemic. Regarding this return, the President and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, stated: "I am delighted to see the return of Portimão to the Formula 1 calendar and for this sport to continue to awaken the passion of our incredible Portuguese fans." Drivers like Stirling Moss, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Nigel Mansell have won on Portuguese soil.
