For the second time in two days in the capital of Portugal, on Tuesday evening, riots broke out. Despite the police's efforts to restore order, clashes began again in the vicinity of Lisbon.
Fights between youth groups escalated into violence and street riots. The police used tear gas to disperse the crowds. Multiple vehicles were damaged, as well as storefronts of various shops.
Witnesses reported that the riots were triggered by the killing of a local resident, which provoked anger among protesters. However, the exact circumstances of the incident require further investigation.
"We condemn any manifestations of violence and destruction," government officials stated. "We are committed to restoring public order and peace throughout the city."
