Formula 1 to Return to Portugal in 2027

Formula 1 has announced the return of the Portuguese Grand Prix to the calendar for 2027 and 2028 as part of a two-year agreement. The race was last held in 2021, when Lewis Hamilton won, followed by Max Verstappen in second and Valtteri Bottas in third. "I am delighted that it is back on the calendar and that this sport continues to awaken the passion of our incredible Portuguese fans," said F1 President Stefano Domenicali. The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, which is 4.6 km long, was only used during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 when Portugal had fewer restrictions than other countries. It will replace the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
